CECEP Project

The Central Europe Civic Engagement Project is dedicated to promote civic activities, financed by the National Democratic Institute from the United States.  As part of this activity, as a Coalition, we carry out an annual task.

So far, we have implemented the "We catch your words!" campaign, which was created to monitor public debate in terms of human rights violations, the use of hate speech and registering all violations by candidates in the 2023 parliamentary elections in Poland. We focused on the Łódź region, but we also took a stand, expressing opposition to statements published in national media and social media.

We also invited other organizations to cooperate: the Never Again Association, the Nomada Association for the Integration of a Multicultural Society, the Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior, and the "Our Ombudsman" initiative.  Our goal was to protect people from minority communities, who are often attacked by politicians who stereotype and stigmatize them. In the coming months, we will build a help desk for people and organizations that experience verbal abuse.  Before the local elections, we intend to actively engage in the campaign, asking and checking local politicians what their plans are for building a multicultural society or implementing migration policy.
