The idea of this kind of coalition was born in
opposition to the racist attacks that took place around us.
Amina, a Muslim woman, who many times heard
offensive comments against her just because she used public transport
wearing a hijab. Dawid,
a Jew who was thrown out of the club at Piotrkowska street because of
the Star of David worn around the neck.
Unfortunately, hate speech and hate crimes
are still real problems that we pay attention to.
We invited people involved in intercultural
dialogue and broadly understood anti-discrimination activities to
create it. We
came to the conclusion that together we can achieve more than
separately, and the diversity of perspectives, experiences and tools
gives us the opportunity to create a common strategy that will work.
From the beginning, we wanted to promote attitudes
of acceptance, counteract hate speech and hate crimes, as well as
support migrants living in Łódź. We
believe that the best way to do this is through joint activities – educational, social, cultural, as well as through mutual substantive
support and consultations.
We believe that together we can change the reality
around us to make it a friendly place for everyone, regardless of
religion, nationality, psychosexual orientation, disability and other
identity features.
